Being that Light in our Community

The first time that I met with Charieze, I was already in high hopes that this next generation after me has so much folx to look up too. When you see it in a daily and you see everyone around you talk about topics that are in the means that is needed to be talk about. Char is definitely an inspiration -- being that she aspires to learn and absorb so much to give back to her community.

POST INTERVIEW QUESTIONS: (BLOG NARRATIVE FOR THE WEBSITE

  1. WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF DURING THE INTERVIEW

I learned a lot about why I became so driven in the things that I do. On top of my efforts in already trying to find the root of my motivations, this interview has truly allowed me to dig another layer deeper into myself and my place with my family as well as my culture and how that plays a huge role into why I became who I am today.

2. HOW CAN WE BE PROACTIVE IN SHARING OUR CULTURE?

We can be proactive by not only showing pride in our culture, but promoting it in every way we can. I, personally, have been using my social media platforms to try to promote not only educational information about my culture, but sharing the profiles of other fellow Filipinos with their own individual talents. We can be proactive by creating a community and using our talents and resources to show the world how unique and fulfilling our culture is.

3. WHAT IS ONE QUESTION YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASK CHACHIE?

What are your next steps to continue to boost your advocacy in sharing our culture? :-)

  • Be yourself! As cliche as this answer sounds we want to show that you are able to be who you are. When it comes to our niche, we have to realize that if we want to see representation we have to be who we were destined for. If that means looking within ourselves and exploring what are things we have to learn about ourselves and what are things we need to unlearn and unpack.

"Thank you again Chachie for allowing me to share my story as well as giving me the privilege of speaking to you. I truly enjoyed our conversation and looking forward to working with you more in the future!"
